LEA Successes

Lived Experience Advisors has played a vital role in transforming San Diego’s homeless response system by placing those with lived experience at the center of decision-making. Our trained advocates have contributed to more than 40 leadership roles on local boards, policy groups, and community forums, helping to shape legislation, improve shelter practices, and influence housing programs. Through persistent advocacy, public testimony, and collaboration with government agencies, we've helped shift the system toward more trauma-informed, equitable, and effective approaches—especially for people of color and individuals with disabilities who are often most impacted. LEA also frequently speaks with the media to elevate community voices, raise public awareness, and hold systems accountable for meaningful change.
